The Importance of using a Registered Electrician
A recent warning about the severe dangers of inadequate electrical safety systems from the Health and Safety Executive followed the death of a woman at a farm in Warwickshire in 2017. The accident, which resulted in the prosecution of two men, is an important reminder of how important it is to use a qualified professional for any electrical work.
Sadly, the woman was killed when cooking food in a caravan at the farm, the cooker was poorly connected and insulation resulting in her electrocution. The cooker had been installed by one of the men, rather than a qualified electrician.
When the scene was examined days after the accident the electrician doing so found that the installation was in a dangerous state. You can read more here .
Electrical safety is not to be taken lightly and as this tragic story shows, electrical work carried out by people without the necessary skills can cost lives.
We are experienced, registered NICEIC approved electrical contractors who carry out all aspects of electrical work for domestic, commercial, industrial and private customers.
Whether at home and wanting to keep your family safe, or in the workplace with responsibility for employee safety, the importance of using the right person for the job cannot be over emphasised. When it comes to electricity this should always be a qualified & registered electrician with the skills and experience necessary to understand the risks and carry out the work safely.
Our electrical engineers are fully trained to the highest standard and have extensive knowledge and expertise. This allows us to provide our clients with installations that are both practical and cost effective. It also guarantees that our installations and all other works are completed, tested and certificated to the current and relevant regulations, ensuring complete safety and peace of mind.
According to the electrical safety charity Electrical Safety First “Every year, 70 people die and over 350,000 are seriously injured in electrical accidents. And electrical fires account for almost half of accidental house fires, over 21,000 each year”.
Yet, the charity’s research has found that a quarter of UK adults do not use registered electricians and that a third of people have hired an electrician based on a recommendation, without taking time to check their credentials.
Electrical Safety First recommends that you use an electrician registered with one of the government-approved schemes to carry out any electrical installation work that you need and have an online tool enabling you to find a registered electrician near you.
We understand there are some DIY jobs that you can carry out yourself rather than paying a professional. But when it comes to electricity it is a different matter altogether. Please don’t take chances with electrical safety – it simply isn’t worth the risk.
